Explaining food safety without gloves from @doughj0e

The creator, a pizza maker, responds to a user's comment expressing discomfort with him not wearing gloves. He walks the viewer through his hygiene process, demonstrating that he washes his hands thoroughly before touching the dough. He then explains the food safety distinction between ready-to-eat foods and pizza, which undergoes a cooking process in a 500-degree oven that kills germs, making gloves unnecessary and potentially less sanitary than frequent hand washing.

Transcript excerpt

I'm not comfortable with you making my pizza without gloves. Now before I even touch this dough, let me show you what I did. You see, I walked over to the sink, turned it on, got some soap, and washed my hands. But Joe, gloves are more effective, but that's where you're wrong. You see, making a pizza isn't like a sub or a fast food hamburger. Those are what we like to call ready to eat good. But a pizza isn't ready to eat. It goes through a process and more importantly, a 500 degree oven. So while I do touch the dough and the toppings, none of the germs will be there at the end of the process. And I don't know about you guys, but I'd rather have someone that's constantly washing their hands than someone who never takes a second to switch out their gloves. And once again, the oven's hot, which is great for no germs, but horrible if you have something that good melt in heat. No, yeah. You should be comfortable with no gloves because it's better.
