Transcript excerpt
I hear this all the time, but it's not something I want from my sons. Most grown men don't no. Some of them are lazy, but a lot of them just never had anybody show them what to even look for. And that's exactly why I'm starting this series. I'm documenting how I'm teaching my boys in real tier, in everyday moments to become men who see what needs to be done and just do it. No asking, no overminding, no nagging. The first thing I'm working on with them is narrating my own actions out loud, not lecturing, not assigning chores, just letting them hear how I think when I see something that needs to be handled. I walk past a mess I didn't make, and instead of just cleaning it up silently, I'll say, good. I see that. I didn't do it, but I'm gonna take care of it before it becomes a bigger thing. That's it. No lesson attached. No big speech behind it. Because what I'm actually doing is showing them what noticing looks like in real time. I'm making it normal, and I'm making it something that men just do. They can't become what they've never seen, so I'm making sure they see it every single day. This is episode one. Follow along for more, because I'm just getting started.
