Transcript excerpt

This is my friend Alexa. She embodies one of my favorite parts of New York City. My film is great. You see, you can find the whole world tier, literally. From authentic Mexican tacos to a Texan honky tonk, it's all here. But behind all the music and food, it's the people who choose to keep their traditions and cultures alive. And that's where Alexa comes in. She grew up in Hawaii, but she's also Chinese, Japanese, and like 10 other things. She's deeply proud of her heritage, and I'm lucky enough that she brings us along for the ride. Like teaching us Chinese lymphatic drainage techniques, or hosting dumpling making parties, or taking 20 friends on a Chinatown food crawl. And alongside all this, she's seriously committed to where she comes from. When floods hit Oahu recently, she jumped in to help, raising $4,000 and getting essential supplies straight to families through grassroots mutual aid. Alexa's magic is that she takes where she comes from, what she loves, and turns it into something that everyone around her can join in on. I'm doing a series about the most impactful people in my life. Follow for part three. And if you wanna support flood relief efforts, why? The link is in m
