Transcript excerpt
You've been out of the gym for more than a few weeks, you've most likely lost some muscle, but there's good news. Muscle memory is real and backed by extensive research. Lost muscle can be rebuilt much faster than new muscle can be built from scratch as long as you come back properly. First, you'll be stiff. So before anything, do ten minutes of cardio and some light stretching for any muscles that feel particularly tight. Drop your weights by 20 to 50% of normal in your first week back and focus on controlling the load through a good range of motion. Don't cheat the reps just to lift the weight you used to lift. Your strength will rebound best, but not if you wreck yourself in week one. In week two, start pushing hard, but keep your volume low. Just one or two hard sets per exercise stopping when you couldn't get another rep with good form. Still no eagle lifting. By week three, you should notice your strength and size coming back quickly as long as you're eating like you're training again. Get enough protein, at least 0.7 grams per pound or one gram per centimeter in height if you're starting with more body
