Transcript excerpt
A couple of weeks ago, New York Magazine reached out to me with literally my dream assignment, which was, can you talk to a bunch of tweens about what they're buying? I learned that they love Brandy Melville, they think Lululemon is overrated, and they all want Stussy hoodies. They also Uber, the Upper West Side to New Jersey to go shopping, crossing state lines as tweens. Tier were a lot of awesome quotes, but my favorite one was this one from Joni eleven, who said, no one really wears coats at recess. Even if it's freezing outside, no of zipping them up. I asked Astrid, 12, what her personal style was. And she told me, if you're going to a business meeting, that's my style. 11, told me, I like Crocs, but my parents won't let me get them. My mom says they're hideous. Della, 12, told me, in sixth grade, everybody walks in with their Lululemon and their Stanleys, and then once you get into seventh grade, you are done with that. Her friend Sienna said, I would never wear high waisted jeans, especially the ones that go all the way up. I have a feeling she's talking about Levi's rib cage. Her awesome quote from Joni 11. Asked her if there were any trends that she would never wear rank
