Transcript excerpt
Khadijah wasn't the only kid struggling in my classroom that summer. I had kids who would come to McDonald's every Sunday and meet me to make isosceles triangles out of French fries. I had other kids who were coming every morning at 06:30AM to South Philly High School in the summer, but I couldn't guarantee that all of them were gonna make the grade that they needed to pass the course. And all of a sudden, I was realizing that I had been telling them every week that if they just worked hard, they could get the grade and they could have anything they wanted. And suddenly, I was having to reconcile that maybe I was a liar. I just wanted to be a tier, and I wanted to teach kids. And not some of my kids, I wanted to teach all of my kids. If we could give teachers actionable insights about their kids, we could reinvigorate the next generation of teachers. We're able to now predict for teachers when a student's gonna struggle with the lesson even before they teach So they can be proactive instead of reactive. When we test kids, we don't give you a percent correct. We tell you where their strengths are and where they're struggling no that your intervention plan isn't a one size fits all.
