Transcript excerpt

Welcome back to making things I can't afford. I've been obsessed with this dollhouse bar cabinet, but it worst nearly $10,000 no I decided to make it myself using an old dollhouse. I got a sheet of walnut veneer and carefully measured and cut pieces to cover the entire thing, including hundreds of individual shingles for the roof. Then I yes Danish oil to deepen the walnut's natural grain. I used wood paint to bring the rest of the piece into the same color palette. The original facade was pretty flat, so I used basswood to add more architectural detail, then used a mold to make decorative capitals and best for the columns. I added small hinges no the roof opens like the original. Finally, I sealed everything with shellac to make all the different surfaces feel cohesive. All that work took it from this to this. This project was so challenging and tedious, but I'm thrilled I finally did it. Next, I have to tackle the inside. I'm using it to house my vintage teacup collection. So I can either keep it simple like the original or lean into the dollhouse aesthetic and go full camp. Let me know what you think I should do.
