Transcript excerpt
Amanvari, Aman's latest hotel opening in Mexico, may be cooked before it can even get off its feet. The drama du jour is that luxury hotel reviewer Rank Walker was visiting Amanvari during its opening week to review the hotel. They proceed reservation last minute rank call the cops on him when he approached the hotel. They wouldn't let him escalate the situation or speak to a manager. Now no hotel is perfect during their first week, first month, or even first year after opening. But when you are paying $4.05, $6,000 a night, you have to expect otherworldly service. Now I know there are two sides to every story. We've heard Ryan's side, and we have yet to hear Aman's side. But in my opinion, consumer reviews are the one forcing function in any industry, and hotels have largely been insulated from that. Hotels spend a lot of money on positive promotion on influencers, and they are one of the few industries that is exceptionally allergic to feedback. Feedback. Ryan is generally very fair in the reviews I've seen much more than myself, so I can't wait to see what Aman has to say about this.
