This is day 61 of my journey to becoming a high school varsity basketball player. Today, I asked a question to one of my friends who's a starter on varsity. I asked him, if I tier out today, would I make varsity? He told me I would make the JV bench. At first, I felt a bit of pride in myself. I went from absolute zero to JV level in three months. But then I realized I didn't come this far and put in all this effort just to sit on the JV bench as a junior. So starting today, I'm making three changes to my regimen to maximize my chances of making varsity. First, I need to increase my water intake to at least 100 ounces a day. Staying hydrated will increase my endurance and stamina. And while I probably won't become the most skilled player on the court in three months, I can become the best condition. Second, I'll have to do every rep at game speed. I have to maximize my output with what little time I do have left. Thirty minutes of game speed reps will do a lot more for me than an hour of lackluster reps. Finally, I'm gonna start doing plyometrics four times a week to increase my athleticism.
