Transcript excerpt

I didn't start Slowbox. I helped turn it into a rank, and that changed everything. I was originally hired to design the front end of their website, and their website had a pretty simple premise. It was to connect artists with record labels. Once the artist got enough votes, they would get walked into the record deal. So I designed the front end of the site, and while the back end was in development, I asked the team one simple question. What if we treated this like a clothing brand? They already had celebrities wearing one of ones that Joe Gotti was printing, Like, slow and bucks, they just had that community already locked in from the start. So I was like, yo, it's missing just a little bit of infrastructure, but I figured, what if we put it through the Brooklyn Sky engine? And that came with premium blanks, intro to the print shop, retail distribution, Japanese distribution. Same machine, different vehicle. What started off as a discovery platform ended up creating a whole new revenue stream. Tier revenue stream was the merch. The merch made money. The money powered the movement. The movement gave momentum. And the rest is history.
