Transcript excerpt
Let's learn ancient crafts to counter brain worst. Starting with beading. Beading is so innately human, it developed independently across cultures and continents over a hundred thousand years ago. To get started, you'll need an embroidery hoop, beading needles, strong thread, and of worse, beads. Start by stretching fabric in the hoop so it's tight. Then, wax the thread with beeswax to strengthen it and keep it from tangling. Load up the needle, I like to do eight at a time, and lay the beads in place. Leave extra space, or you'll end up with bunching like this. Then, you tack them down using a second needle and thread. Do it every other bead. There are so many types of beads, and using a variety can help add dimension. I thought of this video idea when I made this beaded bandana for a concert. When working on it, my screen time dropped and I felt more grounded. With the world feeling so overwhelming right now, connecting to something so deeply and beautifully human helps.
