Two years of chaos, a mayor resigned, multiple trustees resigned, lawsuits and recall campaigns, a ballot initiative. Palmer Lake tier itself apart trying to stop a 120 tier travel center. Then in February, Buc ee's walked away. Everyone cheered. Fight tier. Right? Wrong. On April 2, a brand new LLC called Buc ee's EPCO filed a warranty deed in El Paso County. That that LLC was formed January 15 by Buc ee's own general counsel. They paid over $10,000,000 for the same 53 acres that they were trying to annex. A cash transaction. Private sale. No public hearing. No town vote required. They didn't need Palmer Lake. They just bought their way around it. Here's what nobody is reporting. They deed transferred two well permits with the land as well, Denver Aquifer and the Arapahoe Aquifer, over 11,000,000 gallons of groundwater per year. That was the community's number one objection for two years. Buc ee's just acquired it anyway. And the part that made me stop in my tracks, that deed includes a restrictive covenant that blocks the neighboring parcel from ever being used as a gas station,
