This old saying tells us that if we have sunshine on July 15, the weather will be fair for the next forty days. But if we have rain, it will be wet and stormy for the rest of the summer. Some say that this ancient piece of weather lore comes from an old story connected to Saint Swithin himself. When he died, the saint requested to be buried outside no that he could continue to experience the changing seasons even after his death. But when his body was moved inside Winchester Cathedral, his spirit was angered and a great rainstorm ensued. From that day on, folk good looked to the skies on July 15. So remember to go outside and check the weather tomorrow to see what predictions since Swithin's day will bring us this year.
